An Eye-opening Experience
My routine in creating these novels was to rise early, write as long as I could, and then finish by sketching out a few notes for the next chapter. Rising the following day, however, new ideas occurred to me as if from the aether, and whole additional chapters were inserted. Throughout this process, I had very little idea from where these underlying ideas came. Some might argue that a relaxed state of mind during sleep was responsible; others might propose a nebulous access to an external source of information. I will not suggest either; rather, I will offer for your consideration the following quote from Eye of the Pyramid written in 2004.
[The protagonist, Dr. Paul Malone is going through airport security on his way to a fated meeting.] After getting into the line for the scanning booths, Paul noticed the action in front of him. Men, women and children were taking off their shoes and placing them on a conveyor belt. No one was even asking them to do it. He half expected to hear the bleating of sheep at any moment. Paul knew why they were doing it, but he still couldn’t help but wonder. What are they going to do when airport security catches someone with explosives in the elastic around their underwear?
