To preserve these grand ideals, I consider it our duty to stay informed and to draw conclusions with open eyes.

For me, and I am sure for many of you, a winding and at times rocky road has led to this 
moment in time; and sometimes ambling down paths less traveled provides us with a measure of respite, enlightenment or even transcendence. Fortunately, signposts with virtues such as truth, honor and integrity help guide us on our way. Often, however, the signs are obscured and it takes scrutiny in the form of our discernment to accurately read them.
We pride ourselves on our inborn ability to think. Yet when we accept theory or lies as fact, we are more akin to beasts. Together, let us strive to lift the veil and elevate ourselves and those around us; and perhaps in so doing, we will help create a better world, a world where the lion might indeed lie down with the lamb.
