Overall, the official version of 9/11 has been conclusively shown to be false (e.g., WTC7 was taken down by controlled demolition contrary to the official story). I will not argue this point here because the evidence is too overwhelming and is discussed elsewhere in these pages. Rather, I’d like to explore the reasons why many in the United States and around the world continue to believe the official 9/11 fairy tale.
We, as humans, are all subject to a variety of biases and misconceptions that open the door to faulty logic and erroneous conclusions. Notably (and using a particular issue as a discriminator), there are two types of people in this world: those who draw conclusions from looking at a broad spectrum of facts (realists), and those who look for only the facts which support preconceived conclusions (delusionists). Each of us can be a realist on one issue and a delusionist on another. By ignoring this duality, we can wrongly suppose that if our position is realistic on several issues, then we are always realistic.
By definition, realists can modify their conclusions based on new evidence whereas delusionists generally cannot. A question is thus begged: if delusionists never change their mind and realists already understand the glaring errors in the 9/11 story (or can find the facts elsewhere), what is the point of this discussion?
First, a better understanding of the events surrounding 9/11 will provide you with your own personal BS meter for evaluating your news and political sources. For example, if someone that is obviously in a position to know the truth still spouts the official story, then you can be pretty sure they are a scum bag – sad but true. Thus, the issue simply has too much potential value to be ignored. Second, for those realists who have come to know the truth on this issue, it can be quite frustrating to see the delusionists who simply refuse to open their eyes. Perhaps this discussion can help mitigate some of this frustration.
The discerning reader will note the implicit assumption that being a realist puts you in a better position to promote the common good and that to be a delusionist is problematic in this regard. Philosophical arguments to the contrary might be offered, but for pragmatism here, we consider this assumption axiomatic. By way of supporting such pragmatism, let me site a few clichés and an analogy: “forewarned is forearmed”; “knowledge is power”; and the Ostrich who buries his head in the sand at the sound of a horn doesn’t see the dune buggy racing toward him.
So we come to the meat of the discussion: why do delusionists refuse to see the truth about the events surrounding 9/11? To explore this question, we site multiple categories as consistent with the varying and complex nature of the human mind:
Authority Figures: Overall, the delusionists that reside in this category have given over their judgment on this issue to another party (a famous actor or news personality; a particular political party or news channel; or a country or particular administration). Understand that realists and delusionists can share likes and dislikes amongst these various authority figures; it is, however the extent to which the delusionists defer their judgment to these persons and/or affiliations that defines them. For example, consider two discussions on both sides of this issue: the attempted support of the official story by Popular Mechanics and the video presented at the end of this page, which presents facts contrary to the official story. The realist will thoroughly explore both presentations and note that impossibilities exist in the official story. Whether they like it or not, they will have to conclude that the official conclusions are in many cases wrong. The delusionist on the other hand will search for anything he can find to support his preconceived notions and ignore or gloss over any points that belie his presumptions.
Cognitive Dissonance: Cognitive dissonance is a phenomenology where the mind refuses to accept sensory data. As a category, it is in part an extreme version of Authority Figures as discussed above. These delusionists have such a strong view related to the issue, that to consider anything other than their preconceived conclusions will cause them deep and measurable emotional harm. These people can be quite aggressive and even violent in support of their erroneous views. Their mind acts without conscious control to protect the psyche – for them, it is an automatic form of self defense. These types of individuals are unfortunately quite prevalent and easy to spot; they will resort to almost any inane methodology, discussion or attack to support their convoluted view.
False Patriotism: Many believe that their highest duty to country is to support officialdom without question. This is false patriotism as they enable the spread of corruption by eliminating the natural check and balance imposed by an informed citizenry. Further, they are wrong as to their fundamental responsibility to country. The primary role of the patriot – whether he/she is military, government or civilian – is to support the Constitution of the United States. To do so, one must rise above internal biases and let the facts speak for themselves. History has repeatedly shown that following the man instead of benevolent ideals often ends badly.
Apathy or Inconvenient Truth: “It doesn’t affect me”; “I take good care of my family”… or unspoken and often unacknowledged, “I live a comfortable life and simply have no interest”. For this large group of delusionists – a dangerous group due to their potential to blindly support corruption –Pastor Martin Niemöller, in characterizing the rise of Adolf Hitler, speaks to you from the grave.
Faulty Logic: This one is classic and filled with numerous and varying individuals. To some extent, they can be excused up to the point of continually avoiding introspection in the face of a growing amount of evidence. There is some small hope that many in this group can eventually see the truth. Generally, here’s an example of how their argument goes: “If the towers were taken down by controlled demolition, then the government did it. I don’t believe the government could do this; therefore, there was no controlled demolition”. This is faulty logic in at least two ways. First, it is an undeniable fact that men within government have committed crimes throughout history (irrespective of the actions of the institution of government). Second, and clearly the more important fallacy of logic, the determination of who perpetrated these crimes has no bearing whatsoever on whether crimes were committed (if you find a broken window, you cannot prove that it was unbroken by trying to show that no person or act of nature was available to break the window).
Too Busy or Unaware: There is still a reasonably large group of people who for various reasons are simply unaware of the many impossibilities offered in the 9/11 official story. I group them in the delusionists’ category primarily because most have made a decision that their participation in preserving this great Republic is optional.
Skin in the Game: Arguably, this is not a category in and of itself, since delusionists here draw from many other categories. It is presented separately because people in this category are in a position to do the most good if awakened to the facts – and it is from this category that many of the most powerful advocates for truth have arisen. Generally, the defining quality for being mired in the membership here is that individuals benefit from and/or have something tangible to lose by even considering conclusions contrary to officialdom. Some here have insider knowledge, but have rationalized away their obligation to preserve the grand principles of this nation.
Pseudo-Science and Obfuscation: People here choose for whatever reason to be swayed by poor scientific arguments that use complex words and ideas, but avoid the core issues and/or site causal relationships that require a sequence of highly improbable events. Delusionists here also take character attacks on the messenger as germane to whether an event did or did not happen. Generally, people swayed by the aforesaid pride themselves on their discernment to the point of arrogance or are looking to support a preconceived worldview.
Filth: The people in this category are complicit in the act or serve to obfuscate the issue for some personal reward. Rather than call them corrupt realists, my view of life defines them as delusionists. In some form or another, they have deluded themselves into believing that supporting these evil acts serves a higher good (even if a good as trite as self-enrichment). Some of the more corrupt prize power and wealth to such a degree that they excuse any level of crime on humanity. The worst people in this category simply thrive on spreading pain and suffering.
Admittedly, lines dividing the aforesaid categories are blurred. Clearly, the root of an individual’s false belief is complex and may stem from a participation in multiple such categories. Most of the delusionists on this issue, however, share a common attribute: by definition, they are complicit to varying degrees in allowing many of the perpetrators of this crime to remain free. Note that it is the act of opening your eyes that yields the most good in preserving your freedom and uplifting society. No one expects everyone to carry a banner and protest (although, may the light shine brightly on the good men and women who choose to do so). Rather, after the many have simply acknowledged the truth (and/or realized that many questions have yet to be answered), the rest will take care of itself.
I’ve included the video below because it is recent, provides a good cross section of evidence, and interviews a variety of highly credible people. Again, for me, the smoking gun is the physical argument that I present showing that WTC7 was taken down by controlled demolition. You will notice that thematic throughout my work, I am not pointing fingers at anyone – that is for a court proceeding to decide. When the real perpetrators of the events surrounding 9/11 are finally brought to justice, it will be a great day for these United States and indeed the world.
Why? Because as you and I become better informed about the world in which we live, so too we are better able to stem the tide of corruption and thus begin a new renaissance of peace and prosperity for all.
